Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with Snohomish, Washington’s own Andy Froberg about his new skate blog called Poachthis.com. The blog started as a place for Andy and his friends to showcase their work, and it is now becoming something much bigger than that. Andy describes Poach this as “..a collective of Northwest skateboarders who wanted to create a more communal destination for the Pacific Northwest skate scene. As well as being an outlet to share new media, [they] also strive to make this website a useful resource for skaters near and far.” Although it is still in the beginning stages, Andy and the other extremely talented contributors of PoachThis.com (Zach Bishop, Kyle Steneide, Sean Motaghedi, Ben Ericson, and Scott Kramer) are showing a lot of potential for making something great.

The blog will include everything from video parts from friends of theirs like Cory Kennedy, Jordan Sanchez, and Shane Auckland, tutorials and “how to” videos and product reviews, to skate spots. The skate spots page will tell people where all of the really good skate spots are in Washington and other cool places around the world. These guys definitely know their stuff as they have been skateboarding, filming, and doing photography most of their lives.

Andy has a background in professional photography, he went to school for videography, and he has been skating for almost 14 years. His favorite skateboarders are his friends, and he told me that “as you get older you tend to appreciate [the] dudes you’ve actually kicked it with” more so than the dudes you looked up to when you first start skateboarding, because the people you kick it with are the people who really help push you to do your best and try new tricks.

For those who are curious, Andy’s current skateboard setup is: A random shop board from Montana, Independent trucks, 56mm Bones Street Tech wheels, and Bones Swiss bearings.
